It has been shown that these families are often forced to borrow money at exorbitant interest rates during the marriage of girls. The grant will be called the Rupashree Scheme which aims to alleviate the financial hardships faced by poor families during the marriage of girls.
The government has allocated Rs. 1,500 crores for this Scheme. Under the Rupashree Scheme, the bride has to fill up the form after the wedding day is fixed. She has to apply at least 30 days before the wedding.
