What is Khadya Sathi card?
On 26 January 2016, Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee inaugurated a new Scheme on behalf of the Government of West Bengal.

By giving rice or wheat at the rate of Rs. 2 per kg in subsidy, not only the financially backward people but also 90% of the people of Bengal, i.e. less than 60 million people are benefiting.
Customers will be given a special card under the ‘Khadya Sathi’ scheme. With the Khadya Sathi card, people will be able to buy food grains at lower prices from ration shops. But first of all, it is clear that subsidized rice and wheat can be bought at a lower price if you have a Khadya Sathi card.

What is the purpose of Khadya Sathi Scheme?

If you have a PHH class card, or SPH class card, you will get 2 kg of rice and 3 kg of wheat every month. The price of two types of food grains will be Rs. 2 per kg. The same rule applies in the case of the State Protection Scheme 1 card. Those who have this type of ration card will get 2 kg of rice and 2 kg of wheat every month. The price of food grains is only 2 rupees per kilo.
Only those who have State Security Scheme 2 registered cards will get 13 rupees per kilo of rice and 9 rupees per kilo of wheat. They will get 1 kg of rice and wheat – two types of food grains every month.
Khadya Sathi Card Application:
Those who do not already have a ration card or a Khadya Sathi card can apply for this card immediately to buy subsidized food grains. However, everyone who wants to apply for the card must be a permanent resident of West Bengal.
It is mandatory for every applicant to have their own ration card. People living below the poverty line in West Bengal, who live in rural areas and have been severely affected by the floods, can apply for the card.
If any member of the family works in the government, then he too will not get the opportunity under this card. After all, it is hoped that the card will provide protection in the uncertain future.
Do documents need to apply for a Khadya Sathi card?

1) The ration card that the applicant already has to be submitted.
2) Photocopy of the Aadhar card the applicant should be given.
3) It is advisable to submit a document to prove that the applicant is a permanent resident of West Bengal. As in this case, the electric bill, etc. is applicable.
4) How much is the family income of the applicant, his documents are required.
5 ) If the applicant already has a ration card as proof of BPL (Below the Poverty Line) i.e. living below the poverty line, it has to be submitted.

7) The applicant will need a passport-size photograph when applying for the ‘Food Companion’ card.
