How to Retrieve Lost and Forgotten UID/EID?

 f you lose your Aadhaar card, there is a special service on the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) website, which you can avail by paying a nominal fee. With this facility of UIDAI you can reprint your Aadhaar card. This service is useful for Aadhaar cardholders, whose Aadhaar card is lost or forgotten somewhere.

This facility was not available before

If you lost your Aadhaar card earlier, you could not get it again. You would show it as identity proof, which was valid. But now according to UIDAI website, any person can get his new Aadhaar card by paying a nominal fee of Rs 50 (including GST and speed post fee). You will get the reprinted aadhaar card via speed post within 5 working days.

How to reprint?

For this, first, log on to the Aadhaar portal of UIDAI and then click on ‘Download Aadhaar’ under the ‘Get Aadhaar’ option. This will open a new page. Enter one of the Aadhaar numbers (UIDs), registration numbers (EIDs) or virtual numbers (VIDs) on this page. Then enter the captcha code and click on ‘Send OTP’.

You will get 6 digit OTP on your registered phone. Enter it on the new page. Answer some questions in the quick survey here too. Then click on the option of Verify And Download. Finally, your Aadhaar card (digital copy) will be downloaded. You can print this.

Register if there is no mobile number

If your mobile number is not registered on your Aadhaar number then you can get OTP in another way. You have to enter an alternate / non-registered mobile number and click on ‘OTP’. After this, you will receive an OTP via sms on your phone.

How to check status?

First go to https://resident.uidai.gov.in/check-aadhaar-reprint. Enter the 28-digit SRN code found on your acknowledgment receipt or on your mobile. Then enter the 12-digit Aadhaar number. Enter Security Code and click Submit. If the given details are correct then the status will be displayed on your screen.
