What is OBC Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme 2023?
In June 2006, the then Prime Minister launched a 15-point program for the welfare of the minority community in India. Through this project, a pre-secondary scholarship was announced for meritorious students from minority families.
The project provides scholarships at the pre-secondary level to all students belonging to minority communities studying in all government and private schools in India. This scholarship is administered by the Ministry of Minority Affairs under the National Scholarship Portal.
Various Scholarships are offered on this Scholarship Portal. Today we are going to know detailed information about Pre Matric Scholarships Scheme in West Bengal.
Day Scholars of Pre-matric Scholarship
Day Scholars for school students. Rs.100 / – from Class-I to Class-X for 10 months and an additional Ad-hoc grant of Rs. 500 / – i.e. Total of Rs.1,500 / – per Student.
Hostellers of Pre-matric Scholarship
Hostellers are for Hostel students. From Class-III to Class-X Rs.500 / – for 10 months and additional Ad-hoc grant Rs. 500 / – i.e. Total Rs.5,500 / – per Student.

Fifth class – 500 rupees
Sixth class-650 rupees
Seventh class – 700 rupees
8th class – 800 rupees
Ninth class – 900 rupees
Tenth class – 1100 rupees

Necessary Documents for OBC Pre-Matric Scholarship
The following documents must be submitted by the student to the school for the Pre-matric Scholarship.
(1) Copy of the OBC Certificate of the Applicant
(2) Mobile Number
(3) Copy of the Aadhar Card
(4) Original Family Income Certificate
(5) Copy of the Bank Account
(6) (Photocopy / Xerox of the first page of Bank Pass Book, which clearly states Bank Name, Branch Name, Address of the Bank, Account Number, Applicant / Candidate Name and Bank IFSC)
Eligibility criteria of Applicant for OBC Pre-Matric Scholarship
Applications are being invited from OBC students of Class-I to Class-X in West Bengal this year as every year. Applications have to be made Online / Offline. For new applications or renewals of old students, visit the Official Website of the Pre-matric Scholarship. The qualifications required to apply for the Pre-matric Scholarship are-
(i) The applicant must be a resident of West Bengal.
(ii) The applicant must belong to the OBC community of the state, Muslim OBC is also eligible.
(iii) All Day Scholars and Hostellers of West Bengal can apply for this Pre-matric Scholarship.
(iv) Applicant’s annual family income must not exceed 2.5 (Annual Income) Lakh.
(v) The bank account of the applicant must be Nationalized Bank.
(vi) The applicant will not receive any other Scholarship or Stipend at the same time. That is if you apply for a Pre-matric Scholarship and any other Scholar. Cannot apply for a ship/stipend.
(vii) Applicant must be a Regular Full-Time Student and must be studying in a Government School or Government Aided School and Government Recognized Schools in the State of West Bengal.

What it takes to be included or benefited from this project
1. OBC students of any recognized school must be in the 5th to 10th class
2. The annual income of the family should be within 2 lakh 50 thousand rupees
3. Class attendance rate must be satisfactory
4. Only students who have passed the last annual examination will be considered
5. The applicant will not be able to take any other government allowance for that period
6. A bank account must be opened and the scholarship money will be sent to that account
7. The bank account details such as IFC code, account number, bank and branch name, and address should be given along with the application form.
Last Date of Application for OBC Pre-Matric Scholarship
The online and offline process for applying for the Pre-Matric Scholarship has started from the date announced by the Government. The application process will continue in all the districts of West Bengal. Students have to apply before the last date of the Online Application or Offline Application of the current Academic session.
