The Department of Legal Affairs under the Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India, is trying to celebrate “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” with the vision of growing the spirit of patriotism in the hearts of all citizens and raising awareness about the national flag “Har Ghar Tiranga”.

“The campaign has started. The Constitution of India provides the citizens of India with the right to freedom and guarantees individual rights, which were considered important by the framers of the Constitution.

In these circumstances the Department of Legal Affairs, Government of India is organizing the following competitions for wider participation of law students studying in Law Colleges/Institutes in the below categories. Here is the detailed information for you.

Essay and Debate Competition

For the debate, an essay competition, the faculty of the respective law colleges/institutions will encourage the students to register on MyGov and participate in the competition and later organize the debate competition at their college/institute level.

At the first level, the designated institute/team will form a committee of experts to scrutinize the entries at the State/UT level and select the 20 best entries for both the competitions from each state along with one best entry from each of these states.

Thereafter, the selected entries in both the competitions from each state will constitute a pool of shortlisted entries at the national level for the final selection of the best three (3) entries in both the competitions, which will be decided by a team of experts constituted by DOLA.

Will go All entries received within the stipulated date will be placed before the team of experts whose decision will be final and binding on all the contestants. Any legal proceedings arising out of the Contest/its entries/winners shall be subject to the jurisdiction of Delhi only.

In the first level, DOLA’s social media team will evaluate the entries at the State/UT level and select the 20 best entries from each of these states, with one best entry from each state being sent to DOLA.

Thereafter, the selected entries in both the competitions from each state will constitute a pool of shortlisted entries at the national level for the final selection of the best three entries in both competitions, which will be decided by a team of experts constituted by DOLA.

All entries received within the stipulated date will be placed before the team of experts, whose decision will be final and binding on all the contestants.

Any legal proceedings arising out of the Contest/its entries/winners shall be subject to the jurisdiction of Delhi only. Videos on social media will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Prevalence (50%)
  • Relevance of the subject (30%)
  • Creativity (10%)
  • Insight (10%)

Certificates and Awards for the competition

As awards, cash prizes, trophies and certificates will be presented by the Department of Legal Affairs (DOLA) to national and state-level winners in each competition. E-certificates must be awarded to all the participants in collaboration with MyGov.

The Start Date of the program is 22 July 2023 and the last Date for Submission is 12 August 2023.

Terms and Conditions for the competition

The competition is open to all Indian students studying in law colleges/institutions in all the states of India.

All entries should be sent to www.MyGov.in. Entries submitted through any other portal/medium/mode will not be considered for evaluation.

A participant may submit only one entry for one contest. Separate entries may be sent for each contest. If it is found that a participant has submitted more than one entry for a contest, all entries will be treated as invalid.

Each entry must be original. Entries stolen in any manner will not be considered for evaluation and will be treated as invalid.

The Government of India assumes no responsibility for copyright infringement or infringement of intellectual property rights by the participants.

Writing the participant’s name/email etc. in the body of the essay or anywhere in the video will cause disqualification of the entry.

Candidates must ensure that their MyGov profile is authentic and updated, as the Department of Legal Affairs (DoLA) will use it for communication. It includes details such as name, photograph,

complete postal address, e-mail id and phone number, and college/institution details. Entries with incomplete profiles will not be considered.

DoLA reserves the right to cancel or modify all or any part of the Contest and/or the Terms and Conditions/Technical Parameters/Evaluation Criteria etc.

However, any change in the Terms and Conditions/Technical Standards/Evaluation Criteria, or cancellation of the Contest, will be updated/posted on the MyGov Platform. It will be the responsibility of the Contestants to keep themselves informed about any changes in the terms and conditions/ technical parameters/ evaluation criteria etc. specified for this Contest.
